Domestic Wire Transfers — Same-Day Settlement

When ACH is too slow and you need funds to arrive today, a domestic wire is the right tool.

3:00 p.m. PT Cutoff

Submit your outgoing domestic wire transfer before 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time on any business day and funds will be debited from your account and credited to the recipient's bank the same business day via the Federal Reserve's Fedwire system. Wires submitted after 3:00 p.m. PT process the following business day.

📄

What You Need to Send

Gather the recipient's full legal name, receiving bank name, ABA routing number (9 digits), and account number. For wires to attorney trust accounts, real estate closings, or business accounts, the recipient's bank may also require the bank address. Double-check all details — wire errors are difficult to reverse.

💲

Domestic Wire Fees

Outgoing domestic wire: $25, debited from your account at time of processing. Incoming domestic wire: $15, debited from the credited account upon receipt. No additional First Community Credit Union fees apply to domestic wires. Fees are competitive with national credit union averages and significantly below most bank wire fees.

International Wire Transfers via SWIFT

First Community Credit Union sends international wires to recipients in over 40 countries through the SWIFT network.

Sending Money Abroad — What to Expect

International wires use the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) network, the global standard for cross-border fund transfers. To send an international wire, you need the recipient's full name, address, bank name and address, SWIFT/BIC code (8 or 11 characters), and IBAN (International Bank Account Number) for countries that use it — including most of Europe, the UK, and parts of the Middle East and Africa.

International wires typically arrive within 1–3 business days depending on the destination country, correspondent banking relationships, and any local banking holidays. First Community Credit Union processes outgoing international wires in US dollars. Currency conversion at the destination is handled by the receiving bank or a correspondent bank — exchange rates and conversion fees are outside First Community Credit Union's control and not included in the $40 outgoing fee.

OFAC Compliance and Wire Screening

Every wire transfer processed by First Community Credit Union is screened against federal sanctions requirements before it leaves the credit union.

What OFAC Compliance Means for Your Wire

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), a division of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions based on U.S. foreign policy and national security goals. Financial institutions including First Community Credit Union are legally required to screen all wire transfers against the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list and sanctioned country lists before processing.

Practical implications for members: wires to individuals or entities on the SDN list will be blocked and reported to OFAC as required by law. Wires to sanctioned countries — including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and the Crimea region — cannot be processed. Most member wires involve none of these restrictions and process without OFAC-related delays. When a match or potential match is flagged, First Community Credit Union's compliance team reviews it — this may cause a short processing delay while the review is completed.

For more information on OFAC sanctions programs, see federalreserve.gov.

Wire Recall Process — What to Do If You Made an Error

📞

Act Immediately

Wire transfers are generally irrevocable once processed. If you discover an error — wrong account number, wrong amount, or wrong recipient — call First Community Credit Union immediately at (800) 342-8575. The sooner you call, the better the chance of intercepting the wire before the receiving bank credits the funds to the recipient.

📋

Recall Request Filed

First Community Credit Union will submit a wire recall request to the receiving bank on your behalf. For domestic wires, the Fedwire recall process is standardized — the receiving bank is notified and asked to hold or return the funds. The receiving bank is not obligated to comply if funds have already been credited and withdrawn by the recipient. A wire recall fee may apply regardless of outcome.

International Recalls

International wire recalls are more complex and less likely to succeed than domestic recalls. Once a SWIFT wire reaches the beneficiary bank and is credited to the recipient, recovery depends entirely on the recipient's willingness to return the funds and the receiving country's banking practices. First Community Credit Union will assist the recall process but cannot guarantee recovery of international wire funds.

Send a Wire Transfer Through First Community Credit Union

Initiate domestic and international wires through online banking — no branch visit required. Same-day domestic settlement when submitted before the 3:00 p.m. PT cutoff.

Frequently Asked Questions — Wire Transfers

How do I send a wire transfer from First Community Credit Union?

Log in to online banking and go to Transfers > Wire Transfers. Enter the recipient's full name, bank name, ABA routing number, and account number. For international wires, also include the SWIFT/BIC code and IBAN. Submit before 3:00 p.m. PT (domestic) or 2:00 p.m. PT (international) on a business day for same-day or next-day processing. Wire transfers can also be submitted in person at any First Community Credit Union branch. For Federal Reserve guidance on wire payment systems, see federalreserve.gov.

What are the wire transfer fees at First Community Credit Union?

Outgoing domestic wire: $25. Incoming domestic wire: $15. Outgoing international wire: $40. Incoming international wire: $15. These fees are debited from your share account. Third-party correspondent or receiving bank fees for international wires are separate and not controlled by First Community Credit Union. There are no hidden markup fees on exchange rates — currency conversion is handled by the receiving or correspondent bank.

What is the daily cutoff for outgoing wire transfers?

The cutoff for outgoing domestic wire transfers is 3:00 p.m. Pacific Time. International wire cutoff is 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Both apply on business days (Monday–Friday, excluding federal holidays). Wires submitted after the cutoff are processed the following business day. Plan wire timing carefully for real estate closings, business transactions, or other time-sensitive payments.

Can I cancel or recall a wire transfer after sending?

Wire transfers are generally irrevocable once processed. If you made an error, call (800) 342-8575 immediately. First Community Credit Union will file a recall request with the receiving bank. Success is not guaranteed — it depends on whether funds have been credited and whether the receiving bank cooperates. International recalls are harder to execute than domestic recalls. A recall fee may apply regardless of the outcome.

What is OFAC and how does it affect my wire transfer?

OFAC (Office of Foreign Assets Control) administers U.S. economic sanctions. First Community Credit Union screens all wires against the OFAC SDN list and sanctioned country lists before processing. Wires involving prohibited parties or sanctioned countries are blocked by law. Most member wires clear this screening without issue. If a potential match is flagged, the compliance team reviews it — this may add a short delay to the wire's processing time.
